Channel 8's "The Joy Truck" organising an exhibition of Sebastien's art, 70% of sales going towards "A Mother's Wish" campaign

Dear everyone,

We are super-excited and extremely grateful for Channel 8's "Joy Truck" for capturing our life journey and organising an art exhibition showcasing the paintings ("Raw Art") of Sebastien, my soon-to-be 17-year-old son with moderate autism.

As all of you are also aware, I have started "A Mother's Wish" Campaign (http://www.awakeningminds.sg)  to promote the provision of affordable quality programmes for youths and adults with moderate to severe autism. Thus far, Sebastien has been contributing 30% of the sales of his paintings to the campaign and played a significant role in raising $1,729.86 for the fund.

As this exhibition has been organised by Channel 8, with the support of its sponsors, 70% of the sales on ALL days of the exhibition will go towards "A Mother's Wish" Campaign, with 30% going towards Sebastien who is not only the artist, but also a beneficiary who should be supported in his endeavour to achieve independence through his own effort.

I am currently engaged in dialogues with interested organisations and a division in the MSF to see how we can collaborate to enhance the availability and quality of programmes for this population and bolster their affordability for families. Everyone has told me that I am fighting an uphill battle. But what I am hoping to do is to start planting the seeds of change, which I hope will grow and blossom into a long-term programme that will continue to help youths and adults with moderate to severe autism to realise their potential. Even if the full vision is not realised in our lifetime (Sebastien and myself), we still would have been glad to have done our part to advance the cause and hopefully make a difference for future generations of autistic youths and adults and their families.
