Affordable workshops on autism and special needs

Dear everyone, 

This is just a reminder that latest registration date for any of the following workshops on autism and special needs is April 8th for the workshop to run on April 22nd. We need a minimum of 10 participants to run the workshop in order to keep the cost at $60 per participant/per 3-hour session. ANY of the aforementioned workshops that have a signup of 10 participants will run first. So please contact me or SMS me at 8163-4509 to register your participation.

Here they are again: The following workshops constitute a comprehensive training system for providing caregivers, service providers, and trained mentors with the practical hands-on skills for interacting with individuals with moderate to severe autism/intellectual disabilities. Most of the workshops can also be customised to tailor to participants working with mildly autistic individuals.

BEYOND WORDS: Interaction Strategies to Connect and Build Relationships: Let’s get to know each other! A Workshop on Interaction and Building Relationships (one 3-hour session)

SELF-CARE AND DAILY LIVING: Leading a Life of Dignity! A Workshop on Cultivating Self-Care and Life Skills (one 3-hour session)

Open Your Heart, Open Your Mind: Raising Your Special Child. A Workshop for Caregivers on Thriving on Their Caregiving Journey (one 3-hour session)

"A Mother's Wish" Update to provide affordable quality programming for individuals with moderate-severe autism

Dear everyone:

It is the third month of "A Mother's Wish" (AMW) campaign: I am continuing to meet wonderful people whom I hope will partner with me on my mission to provide affordable quality programming for individuals with moderate-severe autism, as well as the people who have shown incredible support and assistance for this endeavour. 

With AMW, I have sought to roll out the campaign at a pace that matches the fact that I am still running it on my own (with the awesome help of my boyfriend who helps to upload content on the Website). This pace has allowed me to meet with interested parties who have challenged me to hone my vision for AMW and the game plan for its implementation. In this month's update, I present an updated vision of AMW and a calendar of events to invite active participation. I sincerely hope that you will join me in this endeavour. 1. Updated Vision of“A Mother’s Wish”

2. Calendar of Events

a. First training workshop for caregivers and professionals [Monday, April 22^nd, 7:30-10:30 p.m., Orchard]: Choose from a comprehensive system of five workshops on academic learning , behavioural management, communication & interaction, independence & life skills, and special needs parenting. The first workshop to get a minimum signup of 10 participants ($60/3-hour session per participant) will run on the date.

b. Free Public Outreach Event (in conjunction with Olive Tree Development Centre): “Glimpse into An Unusual World — Raising Loved Ones with Autism” [Sunday, April 28th, 4–6:30 p.m., Novena]: Find out more about “A Mother’s Wish” campaign to provide affordable quality programming for youths and adults with autism and how you can play an invaluable role. There will also be a talk on Music Therapy (one of the services we would like to provide) by Ms.Chen Hsueh Lien. You can also network with other families and service providers.

c. “A Mother’s Wish”Strategy Get-Together [Sunday, May 12^th, 7:30–9:30 p.m., Orchard]: This informal get-together is for service providers and families of autistic youths and adults (aged 13 and above), as well as interested parties, who would like to contribute to the rollout of “A Mother’s Wish” Community Network — affordable quality programming for youths and adults with autism.

4. Campaign Fund Update: $969.56 

We hope to be able to subsidise some of the activities for youths and adults with moderate to severe autism with the fund. However, it is our hope to obtain far more significant funding in the future by being a non-profit organisation.
